We're Accepting Applications From Indigenous Artists to Bring Stories and Culture to Our Housing Project

Carrier Sekani Family Services is now accepting applications from qualified Indigenous artists to create four distinct, culturally grounded art installations for a new affordable housing project in Prince George. Each piece should embody Indigenous values of connection, learning, and community, contributing to a vibrant and meaningful living environment.

The building design incorporates four unique art components and we are seeking applications from artists that can demonstrate capacity to develop innovative and engaging public art pieces that honours the traditions of the Carrier Sekani people, reflect the cultural identities of future residents, and foster cultural pride for generations to come.

The four components include:

Large Mural on Exterior Panelling
Vertical Wood Carvings framing Residents Entrance
Mural Art on Base Building
Interior Art Feature

Artists are to utilize our online form to submit the following information:

Contact Information
Artist Bio and Online Information: website, social media, interviews that provide information about the artist and their experience.
Art Resume: includes two professional references and images of art
Vision for each art piece in application
Proposed budget and artist fee for piece(s) in application
Proposed project timeline
Additional Attachments: Artists are encouraged and welcomed to include up to five attachments to provide further detail on their previous work. Artists may also use this section to provide sketches, plans and photographs to articulate their ideas for proposed pieces.
