Urban Family Preservation - Vancouver

We support urban families living off reserve, residing in the Lower Mainland, to have access to preventative supports, advocacy, and assistance with Jordan’s Principle requests, as well as cultural support through the Roots Worker.

The Urban Family Preservation Program’s most important mission is to keep families together. Living life off reserve can be lonely, isolating and difficult for families. Our program offers help to urban members to thrive and have the supports they need, while living off reserve from their home communities.

 

How can we support you

  • Advocacy and support for families so they know and understand their legal rights and due process when involved with the Ministry of Children and Family Development
  • Assisting with Jordan Principle applications for various cultural activities, medical, sports, education and one-time emergency assistance
  • Referral to Bea’s Kloset and Helping Families in Need for support for home start up
  • Advocacy and supports for drug and alcohol treatment
  • Weekly Food Hampers through the Greater Vancouver Food Bank (GVFB)
