Sobering Centre

The Sobering Centre is a safe space for people intoxicated from alchohol and/or other substances, operated by CSFS in partnership with the Province of British Columbia and Northern Health.

 

About the program

The centre is a 10-bed, non-medical facility providing a safe space to sleep when people are intoxicated from alcohol and/or other substances. The centre supports clients overnight, with maximum stay of up to 10-hours dependent on time of arrival.

 

Who we serve

Community members 18 years and older who meet criteria. We are unable to offer services if an individual has one or more of the following:

  • History of seizures in the past 12 months
  • Insulin-dependent for diabetes management
  • Requires medical attention for head injury or other acute conditions.

 

How we can support you

Staff can provide referrals to an outreach nurse, community resources, laundry facilities, snacks, showers and a safe place to sleep.

 

Referrals

People can refer themselves or they can be referred by a family member, supportive care person, health-care providers, emergency services or other community partners.
