Research & Data Management
Research Data Management (RDM) refers to the processes applied throughout a project's life cycle to guide the collection, documentation, storage, sharing and preservation of data resulting from research and other scholarly or creative work.
CSFS is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of RDM throughout the research data life-cycle. We strive to provide our researchers with an environment that fosters and supports world-class RDM practices. Central to this commitment are the eight guiding principles derived from the First Nations Data Governance Strategic Framework:
- Community-driven and Nation-based: Ensuring that initiatives are led by the community and reflect the aspirations of the Member Nations.
- OCAP® Principles: Upholding the principles of Ownership, Control, Access, and Possession to empower the Member Nations.
- Relationships: Cultivating strong, trust-based partnerships among all stakeholders.
- Transparency and Accountability: Maintaining clear, open communication and being answerable to the communities we serve.
- Quality community-driven Standards and Indicators: Developing and adhering to high standards and indicators that are determined by the communities.
- Nation (re)building: Supporting the restoration and strengthening of Nation sovereignty and governance.
- Equity and Capacity: Promoting fair access to resources and opportunities while enhancing the community’s abilities.
- Effective technology and policy: Implementing robust technology and policy frameworks that align with community values and needs.
