Bridging to Employment Participants Graduate in Style

March 20, 2024

On March 15, 2024 ten participants graduated from our Bridging to Employment program. Graduates were honoured for their dedication and celebrated in a Bah’lats style graduation ceremony.

“One of the major components of the Bridging program curriculum is to provide participants with culturally relevant teachings that enhance their self-confidence and overall wellbeing. The graduation ceremony not only recognizes and bears witness to their achievements, but it also illustrates the importance of education and culture in our way of life. This teaching bah'lats introduces participants to the beginner protocols that are used in traditional bah'lats ceremonies,” explains Samantha Wurtak, CSFS Bridging to Employment Coordinator.

Participants of the program were presented with their training certificates, clan scarves and smudge kits. After completing the program, participants receive several certificates which may include First Aid, WHMIS Serving it Right, Financial Literacy, First Host, S100/185 Fire Suppression, Learners Driver’s Licence (if requested) and much more to equip them on their journey ahead.

Family and friends were also present to witness the event. Traditional food including dried meat, salmon bannock sandwiches, Nawus (soapberry ice cream), fruit and cake were served. Drummers performed three songs and sent the students off in a good way.
