Stories of Hope and Strength Launch

Date: October 17, 2024 5:00 pm

Carrier Sekani Family Services has received funding from Women and Gender Equality to create a series of short films that will highlight notions of Hope and Strength that exist in Indigenous Communities. The film series is called Stories of Hope and Strength.

Our initiative includes a social media launch of approximately 9 short films and photo stills that will highlight stories of hope and strength from Indigenous women across the country. These stories share personal journeys, life wisdom and teachings that reaffirm the value, importance and love that exists in all Indigenous peoples. The messages also call on the greater responsibility of the country to call out and break down negative stereotypes and stigmas of Indigenous peoples that exist in the media.

Prior to our social media launch, we have organized an exclusive in-person launch on October 17th, 2024 at the Prince George Playhouse on the traditional lands of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation. Following the premiere a Q and A will be held with filmmakers and story-tellers to reflect on the project and the Calls for Justice.

Each guest is welcome to bring a plus one. Please ensure you add two tickets to your registration in order to register your plus one.
