The Tachick Lake Healing Centre is a Carrier Sekani Family Services capital project focused on expanding access to land-based, culturally grounded addictions recovery services. The Centre brings together cultural and western treatment approaches to support holistic healing for individuals and families across northern British Columbia.
In May and June 2026, construction work continued across the project. Workers made progress on building interiors, electrical and mechanical systems, and site work. Tile installation started in the detox bathrooms and continued in other parts of the buildings.

Carrier Sekani Family Services is advancing construction of the Tachick Lake Healing Centre under its original mandate to deliver culturally grounded healing and addictions recovery services in northern BC. CSFS has entered into a construction partnership with Marmot Builders Ltd., a Prince George–based firm with experience delivering similar projects and strong alignment with CSFS values.
An updated construction and opening timeline will be shared as it becomes available.
The Tachick Lake Healing Centre is a long-envisioned facility designed to provide year-round medical detox and residential treatment in a culturally grounded, land-based setting. The Centre is being built on Saik’uz territory and reflects decades of advocacy for equitable access to addictions recovery services in northern British Columbia.
Construction officially began with a ground-breaking ceremony on June 12, 2023. Once complete, the Healing Centre will include five structures that support integrated clinical and cultural care, including medical detox services and residential treatment programming.
For more than 30 years, Carrier Sekani Family Services delivered addictions recovery services at Ormond Lake, a remote and seasonal facility with limited infrastructure. Despite these constraints, the program supported countless individuals through strong cultural grounding and community commitment.
The growing opioid crisis and ongoing service gaps in northern BC have made the need for a permanent, fully equipped healing centre urgent. Tachick Lake represents a turning point, ensuring people can access care close to home, year-round, in a space designed for dignity, safety and long-term recovery.

Individuals and families seeking addictions recovery support
First Nations clients will be prioritized at opening, reflecting the disproportionate impacts of the toxic drug supply on Indigenous communities
Land-based healing is central to the design and operation of the Tachick Lake Healing Centre. Being on the land supports reflection, connection and restoration in ways that cannot be replicated elsewhere.
The Centre blends evidence-based, client-centred clinical care with Carrier and Sekani cultural teachings, ceremony and trauma-informed wellness practices. This approach reflects the Addictions Recovery Program’s guiding principle: Culture is healing.
