Providing advocacy, preventative supports and culturally safe guidance for urban Indigenous families living off reserve in the Lower Mainland. Support includes assistance with Jordan’s Principle requests and cultural connection through the Roots Worker.

About the Program

Living off reserve can be isolating, especially for families who are far from their home communities. This program focuses on keeping families together by offering advocacy, preventative supports and culturally grounded guidance.

Support is shaped around each family’s needs. The goal is to strengthen wellbeing, stability and connection while families live in an urban setting.

How We Can Support You

Advocacy to help families understand their rights and processes when involved with the Ministry of Children and Family Development

Referrals to community supports such as Bea’s Kloset and Helping Families in Need for home start-up support

Weekly food hampers through the Greater Vancouver Food Bank

Support with Jordan’s Principle applications for cultural activities, medical needs, education, sports and one-time emergency assistance

Advocacy and connections to substance use treatment and recovery services

Cultural support and connection through the Roots Worker
