The early years set the foundation for a child’s lifelong learning and well-being. The Best Beginnings Outreach Program (BBOP) helps families support their child’s development through assessment, early intervention and culturally grounded guidance in community settings.

Aboriginal children aged 0 to 6 and their families in Yekooche, Takla, Saik’uz, Nadleh, Stellat’en, Woyenne and Fort Babine.

Community-based services across the communities listed above and through the Vanderhoof office.

What We Help With

Early childhood development support through home visits, centre visits, parent programs and developmental screening.

How To Access

Anyone can submit an Early Childhood Development (ECD) referral form.

What's the Cost

Funded by the Ministry of Children and Family Services.

About the Program

The Best Beginnings Outreach Program works closely with families during the early stages of their child’s development. The team supports families through assessment, diagnosis and early intervention services when needed.

The BBOP team includes:

Speech and Language Pathologist
Occupational Therapist
Physiotherapist
Rehabilitation Assistant
Three Early Years Outreach Workers

Together, they provide meaningful information and culturally relevant services that help children grow, learn and participate fully in their homes and communities.

Who This Serves

This program supports young children and families seeking early childhood guidance and culturally grounded support, including:

Aboriginal children from birth to age 6
Families living in Yekooche, Takla, Saik’uz, Nadleh, Stellat’en, Woyenne and Fort Babine
Children with or without a formal diagnosis
Families or caregivers with concerns about a child’s development
Parents and caregivers looking for education, connection and developmental guidance

How to Access Support

Families and caregivers may self-refer
