Burns Lake Youth Services is dedicated to supporting youth ages 8 – 29 years by providing safe, inclusive, and culturally grounded programs that help them thrive. The goal is to meet youth and young adults where they are and provide the supports they need to build confidence, resilience, and positive connections.
The program provides life skills development and leadership opportunities, cultural programming, recreation and wellness activities, connections to community resources, support with education, employment readiness, goal setting, and a safe space where youth can connect, learn, and build healthy relationships. Other supports include employment and career exploration opportunities, seasonal activities during school breaks and holidays, and one-on-one support services through Intensive Youth Social Workers.
Burns Lake Youth Services shares a centre with Foundry Burns Lake, giving both programs an opportunity to collaborate. Together, they host monthly Youth Advisory Council (YAC) meetings, giving youth an opportunity to provide input and help guide the development of programs and services that matter most to them.
“We have seen youth build leadership skills, strengthen their connections to culture, return to educational goals, gain employment experience, and become more engaged in positive community activities. Many youth tell us they appreciate having a safe and supportive place where they feel heard, respected, and valued,” said Brittany Phair, Director of Community Youth Services.
“At Burns Lake Youth Services, we believe every young person deserves opportunities to learn, grow, and reach their full potential. We are proud to walk alongside youth on their journeys and help create a community where they feel supported, connected, and empowered,” Brittany shared.
