Meet Your Community Workshop Planner

Posted on August 31, 2026

In many ways, collective learning has proven to have positive impacts on people and communities. For the communities we serve, workshops and events give opportunities to build relevant skills, be empowered and interact with fellow community members.

To support this work, CSFS has introduced a Primary Healthcare Planner who responds to community workshop requests and helps coordinate meaningful learning opportunities. In this feature, we get to know Jordan and learn more about her role and the work she does to support communities.

Can you tell us about yourself?

My name is Jordan Sorensen (Cranmer), and I am the Primary Healthcare Planner, working on the Primary Care team. I live in Vanderhoof B.C on the traditional territory of Saik’uz First Nation.

What does your day-to-day role look like?

My job is a little bit different every day! Sometimes I am in community, meeting with health staff and leadership or supporting with workshops at events, and other days I am in the office writing up health plans, planning events, and responding to requests for workshops. When I am not in community, I spend time talking to Health Directors and preparing activities, supplies, and resources for communities.

What’s the best thing about your job?

I think I have one of the most fun jobs because I get to go out to events and support interesting and exciting workshops that bring people together. Building connections and relationships is by-far my favourite part of the job.

What do you enjoy most about working with communities?

The community members! I am grateful for the opportunity to laugh and joke with members when out in community. One of my favorite things is being able to connect with community members through activities like crafting, walking, or working on a project while I am supporting with a workshop.

What are you looking forward to in this role?

I am really looking forward to helping spread the word about what kinds of workshops CSFS offers and helping CSFS staff get out into community to share their expertise. I love sharing tools, skills, and resources, so I look forward to gaining momentum with the work.

What would you like people to know about you and your work?

That I want to hear their feedback and ideas about workshops! Let me know what you want to see in community, what you want to learn about, what kinds of activities you think are fun to do while learning.

Community members can request a variety of workshops. Some examples of previous workshops include smudge spray workshops, sexual health workshops, sexual violence survivor support workshops, mindfulness and yoga workshops, and overdose awareness workshops.

Are there things you would love to learn or see in your community? If you have suggestions or requests, reach out to Jordan Sorensen (Cranmer) at jcranmer@csfs.org. You can also request workshops for your community by filling out this form: https://redcap.csfs.org/surveys/?s=AMFHTJYWXLYNRFFC
