Nowh Guna’ means “Our Way.”
It reflects the practice of standing in both the Carrier and Western worlds and worldviews. This balance supports strong relationships, shared understanding and healthier futures for everyone.
Our award-winning Nowh Guna’ Carrier Culture Training introduces foundational Carrier teachings and helps learners build the attitudes, skills and knowledge needed to offer culturally competent services.

“As an elementary teacher in a grade 6/7 classroom, we are building up our knowledge of the local Nations in and around Prince George. This training adds so much to our learning. I think it is valuable to remind participants that this is only the first step in our unlearning journey, especially for those of us who are white, and in our pursuit of decolonization.”
What to Expect
Facilitators and Knowledge Holders follow the First Peoples Principles of Learning. The training uses experiential activities, story sharing and local history.
Learning areas include:
Understanding
Examining the local history of the Carrier people, before and after colonization, and dispelling common myths
Recognition
Building empathy and understanding about the impacts of residential schools on Indigenous children and families
Connections
Exploring ways to build trust and strong relationships with Indigenous communities
Language
Learning some Carrier language and dialects used across north central BC
Training Costs
External service providers can join on a fee-per-seat basis or can book private sessions for groups and organizations. Costs vary by group size. Registration links include current fee information.
All funds raised through community partner registrations help offset training costs for CSFS staff.
