Community Health Program

The Community Health Program provides support to the 10 Community Health Representatives whom are employed by Chief and Council to work within communities and directly assist community members with a variety of health issues. The Community Health Manager and CHR's are key in providing information to other service-providers and together they provide education, awareness and prevention strategies for a healthier Nation.

A newer initiative of the Community Health program is Community Engagement HUB which is funded by the Health Council. The Hub is a program designed to facilitate community engagement regarding health. The mandate of the HUB is to probed and support health planning, communication and collaboration. The HUB membership consists of Health Champions from Takla, Yekooche, Stellaten, Burns Lake, Wetsuweten, Cheslatta, Nee Tahi Buhnand Skin Tyee Bands.

Initiatives include revising and renewing the Community Health plans for each community. Community members will also be encouraged to develop their own Individual Wellness plan.

The HUB Team also facilitates the Community Health Committees as well as the Regional Health Committee that meets quarterly.

The HUB Team also ensures that there is a link between CSFS communities and the First Nations Health Council as they prepare to transition into the First Nations Health authority and take full responsibility for health programs and services from Health Canada.
