Family Preservation
Mission and Objectives:
The Family Preservation Workers will be responsible for the Social, Individual, Community, Family and Cultural support functions within the CSFS communities.
Roles of the Family Preservation Workers:
- Developing and executing prevention and intervention strategies that address potential and identified issues that place children at risk within the community and family structure.
- The effective execution of the detection component of the Client’s Community Family Prevention Program.
- Liaises with MCFD and CSFS Social Workers in investigation reports with Community members relating to suspected child abuse and neglect. Ensuring the safety, well being and support of children as the first priority.
- Liaises with CSFS and MCFD Resource Workers in arranging appropriate, immediate, family, extended family and community care as an option for children in the care of the Ministry for Children and Family Development.
- Participating with MCFD, CSFS and Community Based Teams in the development of individualized family care plans and child in care plans.
- Facilitation of community workshops, awareness and activities to increase individual, family and community capacity, with a focus on prevention children in care and encouraging health and healing for the reunification of families.
- Performing other related duties as directed by the Supervisor of the Family Preservation Worker Program and the Director of Family Support Services.
The Family Preservation Workers are located in the CSFS Vanderhoof and Burns Lake Offices.
