Community Soup BusWhen times are tough or the weather is cold, it's not always easy to put food on the table every day. Through our community soup bus, we do our best to help reduce the risk of homelessness by offering food to anyone who is in need. It doesn't matter whether you are aboriginal, a parent struggling to feed your children, or someone who can't use other soup kitchens. We just want to help the hungry.
The Carrier Sekani Family Services community soup bus travels to two locations in Prince George every week. At the Carney Hill Neighbourhood Centre, we offer fresh fruit and veggies, dry goods, and canned food to take home. At the Active Support Against Poverty Shelter, we offer hot tasty meals like soup, sandwiches, and fresh fruit or veggies.
Carney Hill Neighbourhood Centre 2579 Victoria Street (Parking Lot) Mon: 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm Tue: 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm Wed: 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Active Support Against Poverty Shelter 1188 6th Avenue (must be 19+ years) Mon: 5:30 pm - 6:00 pm Tue: 5:30 pm - 6:00 pm Wed: 5:30 pm - 6:00 pm Thu: 5:30 pm - 6:00 pm
Food from the soup bus is free to all. If you want to "give back" by volunteering, however, we'd be happy to have your help! It takes plenty of effort to serve almost 600 meals a week and extra hands are always appreciated. If you would like to be of service, please contact us at 250-563-1281 ext 104 and speak with Patrick Coon, the coordinator of our community soup bus program.
Please note: the soup bus will not be available on these 2012 holidays:
