Being in the hospital can be painful and stressful, especially if you are far away from your family and home. This program is offered to Aboriginal patients, to make your hospital stay more comfortable.
The APLW liaises between communities and the hospital healthcare staff to help ease your mind and facilitate healing. In-Hospital Support can provide:

Who is eligible for In-Hospital Support? Carrier Sekani Family Services offers this program to all Aboriginal patients and their spouses staying at the University Hospital of Northern BC, in Prince George. You do not have to be from Prince George or even frpm Northern BC to use this program. Services are provided at no cost to you.
How Do I Sign Up? You do not need to sign up for these services. Let your Community Health Representative (CHR) or your Social Worker know that you will be in the hospital in Prince George and they will connect you with the In-Hospital Support.
If you forgot to tell someone that you were going to the University Hospital of Northern BC, don’t worry! When you get there, just tell a nurse that you would like to see the Aboriginal Liason. They will put you in touch with the APLW.
Is there Aboriginal Patient Support In Other Hospitals? Many hospitals in BC have similar programs. If you are being transferred to another hospital, please let your APLW know. She will contact the Aboriginal Liaison worker at the other hospital and let them know you will be arriving!
